Muscat / Jebal Shams / Nizwa /
Wahiba / Sur / Muscat
Day 01
Muscat – Jebal Shams - Nizwa:
The historic and cultural capital of Oman. En
route, we will have stops for photo session at
villages like fanja & Birkat al mauz. Visit Bahla,
famous for its Arabian Potteries. Visit one of the
pottery making units. Later drive onwards
to visit Jabreen castle, built in 17th
century.
Also visit. Al Hamra and Misfah one
of the oldest villages & up to 400 years old mud
houses are still occupied. While heading for
Jabel Shams photo stop at the terrace farming
village of Wadi Ghul, our next stop takes
us to Wadi Nakher located in the depth of
our deepest canyon. We shall also visit Jabel
Shams the highest point of Jabel akdhar
mountain range known and great canyon of Oman. The
view from here is spectacular. Return back to
Nizwa. Over night at Hotel
Day 02
Nizwa – Wahiba – Sur - We proceed to
visit the famous round tower fort of Nizwa
probably on of the best architecture in Oman. Then
we visit the famous Nizwa souq where the
Arabian potteries, Imported spices, gold and
silver ware are sold here. If this day falls on
Friday then visit of cattle market is very
interesting. The villagers fro surrounding
villages gather to sell there live stock in their
traditional style.
There after depart from Nizwa for Wahiba Sands,
a vast mass of undulating red and White sea of
sand. The ever-changing patterns of the dunes are
a photographers delight. Visit a Bedouin house in
this wilderness.
In stark contrast to this is Wadi Bani Khalid.
It comprises of small pretty villages embedded in
the mountains. The Wadi has clear deep blue water.
We then head for Sur. Evening we reach Sur. Check
in at the hotel. Later in the evening after an
early dinner visit The Turtle beach to see
wild turtles nesting ground.
Day 03
Sur – Muscat: We will have short
orientation tour of Sur: Once the costal
town was famous for Dhow building, Trading &
seafaring. Then drive back to Muscat via the
coastal route. The road wind through the rugged
coastline, beautiful valleys & white sandy
beaches. See the ruins of Bibi Miriam’s Tomb
at the village of Qalhat. The pretty Wadi Tiwi
village provides a surprising contrast with its
lush green wadi and plantations. We also stop at
the Fin’s beach Our next stop is the
Bimah Sinkhole, a spectacular limestone crater
with blue green water at the bottom. Return to
Muscat by evening.
